X-FACTOR stars Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd may well have kick-started a trend for wearing two sets of false eyelashes but the extreme, fake look is not for everyone.

False eyelashes are great if you want to create that defined look first made popular by fashion icons, such as Twiggy, in the 1960’s.

But if you’re after a slightly subtler look it’s difficult to find a pair that will give you luscious lashes without looking like you’ve raided the dressing up box.

Another problem is that false eyelashes are often tricky to apply and there is always that risk that one might embarrassingly fall off half way through the night.

However, over the past year there has been an explosion in the number of salons and department stores offering eyelash extensions – individual lashes glued into your lash-line which can last up to a month.

By building up the lashes individually you can create a look tailored to your own taste.

Mrs Suman Paull MGBT, who runs Osheen Beauty in The Mall – Camberley, Surrey has been fitting eyelash extensions for a number of years, training in her native India first before coming over to the UK.

“A lot of my customers prefer the natural look,” she said. “If you build it up too much, it can look heavy and they might not last that long”.

Eyelash extensions work by applying individual lashes to the top layer of your own eyelashes with a strong glue.

The whole process takes about 1.5 hours but creates a naturally blended-in look and there is no need for mascara.

“Extensions can last between four and eight weeks but you need to pop back for top-ups in-between as some lashes may fall out,” explained Suman.

The most popular lashes at Osheen Beauty is Marvel Lash but they also stock 3D lashes, which can be built up to create a dramatic look, as well as lighter versions, which are used on customers who have quite short lashes.

A full set of semi-permanent eyelash extensions at Osheen Beauty costs £70.00. For more information call Suman on 07427 691545.
